Poetree

Poetree is a journey that follows the rhythm of the world. It starts with the expiration of a tree that breathes out the images hidden inside its trunk. From there, chapters unfold, breathing in and out : 42 photographs organized in seven chapters ( Out : 1, 2, 3   /  In : 3, 2, 1   /   Out : 1, 2, 3   /   In : 3, 2, 1 / ...) Each of these chapters is introduced by a poetic text, imagined as a wordy translation of the tree's original verses.

A trees was dreaming the world and as he falls awake it brings to life the outside shapes, breathing out movment Suddenly, images leave their trunk and eyes, their orbit. Following the tree's order, they breathe out as well. They, too, wish to meet, somewhere in the middle. Then come words. And their unresistable desire to rhyme as well, to embrace images with their verses. Soon enough, the whole mind looses itself on this transparent veil of existence. And before we know it, everything is dancing round. Philosophy entangles its thoughts in our letters, shapes intertwine, dreams penetrate the material world, all of it revealing an unsuspected poetic erotism. And Sufi tradition colours the images of a tree that seems to have preserved the memory of this Arabic civilization in which Lola G. draws her imagination.

Here, the tree is undoubtedly the gamemaster, the poet commanding us to return to the intimate reality of the living. And it writes us in its image. We are its poems as well as our own poets. Like growth rings inside a trunk, poetry expands, unrolls and dances around. The echoes of the initial meeting between an image offering its beauty to loving eyes that wish to get lost in contemplation. This is the existence expressing its endless longing for itself, making all the living shapes rhyme with each other. All of them marked by the mystery of their dazzling obviousness, they draw the outlines of their missing part, the very same part that they have been seeking beyond the self and calling out with their flowing verses, writing, lign after lign, the poetry of the universe.

In front of the unexpected beauty that trees reveal, one answers with a naive wonder. And soon, arises again the tireless question : what is this all about ? Perhaps it is simply about rhyming, in all possible ways.
